SAMPLE QUESTION: Ed, help! I have water leaking in over a kitchen cabinet. But it does not leak all the time. There are no water lines in the area and I first thought it was a leak in the roof and replaced some shingles only to find that did not help. There is a plumbing vent pipe that goes across the area. Can a vent pipe leak? The water has destroyed the cabinet and we don't have a clue as to where the leak is coming from. What next?

SAMPLE QUESTION: We have a skylight in our bathroom that drips terribly onto the floor in cold weather after we use our shower. The drips are so bad that it creates a mini rainstorm inside our bathroom even though it's not raining outside the house. Our ceiling is eight feet high and the skylight adds another five feet in that area. Why does this happen only in the winter and how can we stop this?

SAMPLE QUESTION: Dear Ed, I love your new House Call book and it has given me the confidence to try my hand at changing my bathroom faucet. You say that preparation and good judgment are always the key to keeping out of trouble. So, the first thing I did was to check out my piping under the sink and I made a judgment call to stop the job. Guess what? I have no shut off valves under the bathroom sink and I checked out the kitchen and there are no water valves under there as well! How do I change the faucet now?
